Hi all,

We just ordered all the pen hardware this afternoon. We expect delivery sometime next week. We placed our leather order mid-project and expect it to be ready to ship at the end of the week. So, we'll be rockin' and rollin' on production for The Wanderer Series soon, maybe even by the end of next week! 

And apologies for the couple day delay on sending the survey. We were out-of-town over the Labor Day holiday and had limited internet access. We thought that the survey sent in full before we left, but we were mistaken. We finally hit the send button on Sunday, September 1 so everyone should definitely have it by now. If you don't, check your spam folder and if it's not there shoot us a message so we can re-send.

Hi all!

BackerKit turned around our survey review really quickly for us this time around, so surveys are ready today!! The smoke test will come first, going out randomly to 5% of the backers in each reward level. So if you don't have your survey in the next couple minutes don't worry. You'll have it by tomorrow.

Two important notes about completing this survey:

1. Limited Edition Numbering

The last question in the survey, before any add-ons, is for you to let us know what your preferred number is for your limited edition pen(s). The pens are the limited edition here, not the leather items, so the number "belongs" to the pen. If you ordered multiple pens (whether its a click and a fountain or just multiple pens of the same type) they will each have their own number. If you ordered one of the combos that has a pen(s) and leather item(s), the leather items will be numbered to match your pen. 

Two of the reward tiers, Wanderer Combo 3 and The Wanderer Series, have multiple pens AND multiple leather items. For the 31 backers that backed these rewards, please include a note at the very end of your survey to let us know if you have a preference about which of your items have matching numbers. For example, if you backed for The Wanderer Series you'll get a click pen, journal, fountain pen, and portfolio. You might want your journal to be numbered the same as your click pen and your portfolio to be numbered the same as your fountain pen. If you don't care, then don't worry about specifying.

2. Custom Engraving

Custom engraving is if you want your initials, name, or a short phrase engraved on any of your leather items (not available on the limited edition pens). Custom engraving is $15 (available in the add-on section of the survey). Day One Backers (#1-113) got custom engraving as a thank you for jumping in the project early and getting us off to a great start! Day One Backer surveys will show a $15 credit for you to use to add custom engraving when you get to the Add-ons section of the survey. 

Custom engraving is the very first add-on. Just put it in your cart, hit next, and the survey will ask what you want engraved. Please let us know which of your leather items you want engraved (pen sleeve, journal, and/or portfolio). Then tell us the text you want engraved on those items. Then tell us the font style (serif, sans serif, or script) you want those items engraved with.

Important: The custom engraving charge is really a set-up fee for us to create the engraving file and set the laser up for your engraving. So, if you want all of your leather items engraved with the same thing you'll only need to add one custom engraving "item" to your cart. If you want all your items to be engraved with different things you will need to add custom engraving for as many different engravings as you want. To reiterate - if you want all your leather items engraved with the same text, add only one custom engraving to your order. If you want your leather items each engraved with different text, add multiple custom engravings to your order. 

Clear as mud?! Apologies that it's a bit wonky! There isn't an elegant way to gather this information in BackerKit so please bear with us!

Surveys Coming Soon!

Hi all! 

Just a quick one from us. We've submitted the survey to the BackerKit team for review. They usually take a couple days to finish that up for us. Then we'll send a handful of surveys out, called a Smoke Test, to make sure there are no issues. If all looks good from there, then we'll send to everyone! I'm hoping all these last steps will be done this week so I can send first thing next week. :)

Hi all!

Thank you for being part of this project! We just wanted to put together a quick outline of the next steps for any folks new to Allegory or Kickstarter. And, of course, announce the winner of our best train pun award.

So about the pun contest, we had so much fun with all you guys on the comment boards that we're gonna drop a little extra something in the package for everyone that participated. :) Thanks: Kevin, Chris, Jeffrey, Owen, Jason, Henri, Cory, and Benjamin!!

What's Next

August 15-30 (the next two weeks): Kickstarter processes all the payments and transfers the project funding to us on August 29. During this time we will be working on preparing the post-project survey. We use BackerKit for the surveys so keep an eye out for the link to the survey from them. We'll also update the project here when we send the surveys so you can be sure to track down your link. In the survey you will select the finish for your pen(s), colorways for your leather item(s), let us know any customization, give us your shipping information, and be able to add-on any additional items, including just about anything we make at special Kickstarter pricing.

September 1 - 15: We will be collecting survey responses and placing orders with our vendors. The more quickly you can get your surveys back to us, the better. It will let us get orders placed ASAP. We need the majority of the surveys back before we can place our orders and have a good estimate of the various finish and color break-downs.

September 15 - end of October: We'll be making and shipping rewards in small-batches. We'll post an update here when each batch ships so you know when to keep an eye on the mail! You'll also receive a shipping confirmation with tracking when your specific reward ships. As we mentioned in the project, our standard shipping is USPS. If this is a problem for you please shoot Jess a message at [email protected] so we can arrange an alternate shipping method (additional shipping fees may apply).
